Magnesium Stearate is coommonly used as a filling agent in the manufacture of capsules and tablets, such as vitamins, the source of this ingredient is typically bovine. However, there is an increasing number of vegetarian options in which the product specifically indicates it contains magnesium stearate from vegetable sources.

Silica is silicon dioxide, a trace mineral found in bones, teeth, skin, eyes, glands and organs. It also helps keep skin elastic. Silica works with calcium to maintain bone strength.

Stearic Acid is a saturated fatty acid that occurs in many animal and vegetable fats and oils. Stearic acid is useful as an ingredient in making candles, soaps, plastics, oil pastels and cosmetics, and for softening rubber. Stearic acid is used to harden soaps, particularly those made with vegetable oil. Even though stearic acid is a saturated fat, studies have suggested that it has little effect on blood cholesterol levels, because such a high proportion is converted to oleic acid.

Vanadium, a mineral found naturally in the body that helps to balance blood sugar levels and aids in the release of energy. Vanadium is probably essential to growth and involved in fat metabolism.

White Kidney Bean Extract can be used as part of a weight loss program. Originating from South America where it is native to Peru among other places the bean has obviously been eaten for thousands of years. As part of a proper weight loss programme it is said, by some manufacturers of weight loss supplements, to be more efficacious than Ephedrine HCL at promoting fat loss. There are considered to be no known side effects. It works by blocking the absorption of starch into sugar therefore lowering the calorific impact of eating starch rich foods such as pasta, bread and rice. By reducing the sugars absorbed the body has less calories to store as body fat.
